Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS Orientation: 005185 17-NOV-1930 While sweeping for MALOJA [see 51 04 51N 001 18 18E] a wreck was located by oropesa sweep 157 deg 3c from charted position and 087deg 4.48M from Folkestone Pier Ltho and 205.5Deg 2.5M from Knuckle Ltho. Position 51 04 50N 001 18 58E. 18-OCT-1937 Least depth 52ft in 51 04 46N 001 18 56E. An area with radius approx 3c around 51 05 05N 001 18 45E was swept by oropesa to a minimum of 9fms. No indication of wreck was found by sweep or echo. 02-MAR-1961 Least echosounder depth 59ft. 13-NOV-1961 Drift sweep, clear at 45ft, foul at 47ft. Least echosounder depth 52 in general depth 83-90ft. Scour 91ft. Type 162a/s trace indicates that there are two portions close to one another. 03-NOV-1969 Request to purchase by Folkestone Salvage Co. Thought to be the ANGELUS but could be the MALOJA or an unknown [see wreck in 51 04 51N 001 18 18E]. 19-OCT-1977 In 51 04 43N 001 18 58E. Ng co-ords 632243E, 136328N. Close sounded. Least echosounder depth 15.8 in general depth 27m. Scour 28m. Side scan sonar height not less than 8.4m, Length 85m [too long for 1916 trawler of 304 grt]. Lying 005/185deg. Another contact 252deg 115m from this wreck was 22m long and is more likely to be the ANGELUS. (1)
