Full Description
Description from record TR 15 NW 218:
(TR14595758) The well-preserved remains of at least two individual late medieval timber-framed buildings dating from the 15th century and overlain by later cottages were revealed in April 1988 while cutting new drains during resurfacing of the car park on the Rosemary Lane/Stour Street corner. (1)
2 late Medieval buildings: walls and floors.
Although badly damaged during the installation of the services, examination and recording of the exposed sections indicated the presence of at least two individual houses, with mortared flint and chalk 'dwarf' walls and a laminated sequence of internal clay floors, including the location of hearth(s?) and partition walls. The structures dated from the 15th century AD and were interpreted as late medieval timber-framed buildings. (2)
