Full Description
During the laying of a new gas main outside 20 Orange Street a section of Roman wall, with tile string courses, was observed by Frank Jenkins when the trench edge collapsed.
A further account, possibly describing the same event, states that in 1975 ' Traces of a Roman building and of a Saxon hut with 7th to 8th century loom weights had been found under the road at the junction of Palace Street and Orange Street.'
