Full Description

In 2015 an archaeological evaluation took place ahead of construction at St Anthony's School, four trenches were excavated. 1 feature was observed, this was a small gully aligned WNW by ESE. Four slots between o.6 and 1m wide were cut across the feature showing it to be v shaped in profile. It varied from 0.3m and 0.4m in eidth. And was about 0.2m deep. The filling contained a single medieval rim sherd, dated to the 15th century at the top of the gully. Two other sherds, including a largish base fragment have been dated to the mid to late Iron Age providing a possible date for the gully. A single piece of burnt flint was also recovered. (1)
