Full Description

A magnetometer survey was carried out in 2014 at Graythwaite, Mereworth. The survey showed two pipelines, both modern with one being laid in the early 1980s. A number of features believed to suggest buildings or enclosures were identified. The resuls indicate two differing construction methods. Some are believed to be of masonry construction and the rest are believed to be wooden framed buildings that can be identified by a series of postholes. Dating of the buildings is not possible from the survey results, however they pre-date the oldest map available online which is 1872. (1)
