Full Description
In 2011 a resistivity survey was carried out on the land south-east of Drapers Mill. A number of features were identified although they were not definitively dated. Two low resistance areas as much as features were identified which are likely to be chalk pits, there is another known chalk pit in close vicinity. Another straight edged feature could be the foundations of a large building, however it could also be related to the pre WW1 allotments which used to occupy the field. Another line coincides with a field boundary shown on the 1841 tithe map. Two more lines appear in faint circular marks which may indicate ditches or double ditche enclosures, there is confirmation from the 1980 excavations that a short length of ditch was found there. (1)
