A historic building survey by CgMs ahead of proposed development recorded that this former Nurses Home and Training School was initally constructed in 1926 as a subsidiary of the Oakwood Hospital.

It mentionned that the Oakwood Hospital was initally built as the Kent County Lunatic Asylum.

The former nurses home is recorded as English Heritage Level 1-2 and is now unoccupied.

Despite some later modifications and fittings it is largely unchanged in layout from its original form and the historic character can be appreciated.

"The former nurses’ home and training school, constructed in 1926 as a
subsidiary building for the much earlier Oakwood Hospital, provides a
relatively late example of a purpose-built nurses’ home, a building type which
emerged on hospital campuses from the 1880s. Its construction in the Neo-
Georgian style is typical of such buildings of this period, and its well-detailed
façade is notable, being reflective of the growth of the nursing profession and
an increasing emphasis on staff welfare"(1)
