Monument record TR 34 SW 1110 - Roman chalk block wall, Cowgate Hill Dover.

Summary

Substantial Roman chalk block wall was found during an archaeological evaluation carried out in 2009 by Canterbury Archaeological Trust at the site of 1-7 Cowgate Hill, Dover. The wall was 0.6m wide and survived to a height of at least 0.4m. It is likely that it relates to a structure within the interior of the Roman fort of the Classis Britannica but its precise function and form remains unclear.
