Monument record TR 34 SW 1112 - Possible Medieval mortared flint base, Cowgate Hill, Dover.

Summary

During excavation undertaken by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit on Cowgate Hill, Dover in 1977, part of a substantial mortared flint base was revealed. It is of possible Medieval date but its function remains unclear. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information) The base was the same feature located in an excavation in 1977. The composition of the mortar suggested a medieval date to the excavators.
