Summary
During an archaeological evaluation carried out in 2009 at the site of 1-7 Cowgate Hill, cellars relating to, but also pre-dating, the construction of 1-7 Cowgate Hill were found beneath the floors of No. 5. These may relate to the Town Porter's Lodge described in the 1861 census. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information)
