NGR TR 04981 44532 (1) The Tile Drying Shed structure was built between 1961 and 1972 as a replacement for a curved roof tile drying shed that had been constructed further to the west in the 1930’s.
The extant Tile Drying Shed is a large rectangular structure formed of a single storey brick wall, with a pitched roof gable at the north end. The bricks are well coursed and appear to be predominantly yellow in colour. There may have been a gable or brick frontage at the south end, but this part of the building has been demolished leaving only a single brick column and a remnant of the gable wall at the south eastern corner.
A large opening in the brick structure along the eastern side of the building spanning approximately two thirds of the side of the building and is infilled with a timber structure.
The pitched roof of the structure is formed of a series of trusses braced with a central ridge beam and ties running the length of the building.
Along the eastern elevation the corrugated sheets of the roof project beyond the edge of the wall, discharging any rain water into a gutter, part of which remains fixed to a timber barge board that runs the length of this side of the building.
