Full Description

NGR TR 05063 44452 (1) 1 and 2 Pottery are shown on the 1898 map of the site, showing that they are part of the earliest phase of the brickworks complex, probably a pair of domestic buildings to house workers, perhaps the foreman or other senior staff member. The building appears to have remained largely unchanged throughout the period of operation of the brickworks. On the 1972 Ordnance Survey map, the building is labelled Pottery and may have been put to use as a workshop rather than a house by this time. The building is in very poor condition, semi-demolished and was inaccessible for detailed internal and external survey. Much of the brickwork shows signs of cracking and splitting due to structural failure.
