Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: ES 14-MAY-1945 Vessel lost in position 51 15 08N 001 25 06E length 441ft lying approximately north and south upper deck two masts and funnel visible at all states of the tide. 15-SEP-1955 Wreck Not visible at any state of the tide. 30-SEP-1960 Least echosounder depth 15ft. 25-NOV-1960 No definite trace of wreck was found, but small isolated fouls with no bulk were encountered on and close around position no sounding with lead could be obtained. Echosounder showed several small features standing about 4ft off bottom. Sweeping found clearance of 16ft in 20ft. 18-MAY-1970 This wreck is not, as previously thought, the US steamship HORACE BINNEY which was mined on 08-MAY-1945 in the Dover Strait. She was towed in, then foundered and beached on 10-MAY-1945. Repaired and refloated JUL-1945 and later broken up in Antwerp. 08-AUG-1974 Position 51 15 03N 001 25 12E, least 6m In 7. No scour. Close sounding revealed small feature 1m above seabed. (1)
