Full Description
Just to the east of the centre of the site a clearly defined area 20cm wide and 60 cm long on a south/north axis, with a neatly rounded apse-like form to the south end. The mechanical digger had scrapped off the top 20cm of this deposit. It is assumed that the original deposit was a 26cm deep cut in the gault clay. The dark deposit contained a partial skeleton of a dog and notably no other contextual finds. It is proposed that the grave is ‘clearly a ritualistic’. There were two rounded stones deposited in the grave.
