Full Description
This feature is recorded in the English Heritage Historic Area Assessment for St Mary Hoo Parish. The report states: "The most significant addition to the village [during the 19th century] was St Mary's Parochial School, built by the National Society in 1868…Evidence of post-war decline in St Mary Hoo included the closure of the village school (in 1947). Thereafter the single-storey school room became the residential rear wing of the two-storey schoolmaster's house. The plainly treated building of painted brick has one ecclesiastical flourish, the gable walls of the house each have an arched window. A commemmorative plaque exists attached to a garden wall." (1)
