Full Description
A small concrete underground chamber built c1962 from where it was intended to monitor radioactive fallout in the event of nuclear attack. It formed part of the UK Warning and Monitoring Organisation, a national network of nuclear monitoring posts built between 1956 and 1964. It is set within a fenced enclosure on the edge of a field on the south side of the A253 and to the north of the A299 a short distance from the perimeter of the former Manston Airport. (1)
