Full Description

Trench 13 which was situated immediately outside the north wall of the Cl. Br. fort provided a small amount of information about the extra mural arrangements. A limited area of stratification at the northern edge of the trench consisted of a loam layer covered successively by rammed chalk with a surface of water worn pebbles, a silt layer had formed over this surface. A layer at the bottom of the sequence can be dated to the mid second century or later, while the top contained Antonine samian ware. (1)
