Full Description

Medieval Tower associated with Dover's Medieval town wall. Possibly located to the south/south-west of St James' Church. Tynker's Tower was named after James Tynker, who may have rented it from the civic authorities in the fifthteenth century, but as yet no details of rent paid for it have been uncovered. The part of the Medieval town wall closest to this tower apparently suffered considerable damage from the sea during the late fifthteenth and early sixteenth centuries. (1)
