Full Description

A building assessment was carried out in the warehouses on Cambridge Road in 1996 and again in 1997 ahead of proposals to convert them into retail outlets.

Taken from the source (1997): Building 16 is a small building situated at the extreme south west end of the group C structures. Immediately to the south west of the building there is an open slip-way linking with the main dock and connected to a track leading up to Cambridge Road through a large gateway in the dock side wall. The fall of the ground here probably partially preserves the contour of the shingle spit/Long Wall defining the southern side of the original great pent. An undated 19th century photograph shows different buildings to those which presently occupy the site, although the adjacent building 15 is in existence on the north east side. (1)
