Full Description

Taken from source: 'From 1832 to 1859, Pigots and Kellys Trade directories show that no. 151 was in use as a millinery shop under the management of Daniel Nazer, hat and cap manufacturer. As discussed above it was then (from 1867-1878) in use by John Wyatt Pettitt for his apiculturist business and thereafter, from 1891 to 1915 as a ‘fancy repository’ run by a family member or relation of John Wyatt Pettitt, Mrs Susannah Pettitt passing into the hands of Abigail Pettitt by 1927. The Pettitts association with no. 151 had ended by 1934, which until 1938 was run as a baker shop by Ebeneezer John Ashby. The Pettitt families connections with no. 151A, formerly in use by Pettitt for his cabinet making business, ends by 1891, at which point it passes into the hands of Lewis Reuben Cohen and his similar business interests as a furniture dealer. Cohen remains at no. 151A right up until 1938, although from 1922 he changes the focus of the business from furniture to jewellery.' (1)
