Full Description
Site of (now demolished) 5 Cowgate Hill, 20th century dwelling. Features noted include: The eaves which are at two and two thirds storey height with the dormers projecting through the eaves line in an unusual detail. The rhythm of the properties is unusual in that while the properties are clearly of a piece and have been built as one terrace they have a rhythm of wide followed by two narrow followed by wide frontages. The properties give character to Cowgate Place. The property remained unimproved with the original winding stair and door thereto remained. On the first floor one of the rooms was converted into a bathroom. To the front elevation there were sash windows on the first and second floors. The house had period character internally including original staircase and fireplaces on the ground and first floors. (1)
