Monument record TR 34 NE 345 - Prehistoric ditch, Upper Freedown, St Margaret's-at-Cliffe

Summary

The ditch extended across the area on a north-east to south-west alignment. "The ditch may have been part of an enclosure or a field system. Prehistoric struck flint recovered from the fill may be residual, and a late Iron Age date for the infilling of the feature is suggested by the pottery. Excavated evidence indicates that the ditch became partially infilled, but the boundary was renewed by a recut at a later date."
