Full Description
During works associated with the A20 road and sewer scheme substantial remains of early post medieval walling was located on Mill Lane and within the bed of the River Dour. (1)
In addition, a post medieval revetment wall was located during the excavation of a 3m deep trench, cut below the base of the River Dour, adjacent to Mill lane as part of the works associated with the Dover Spine Main, to carry the water pipe beneath the river bed. Wooden piles were also located in association with this revetment wall on the eastern side of the river bank. The wall is one of a series in the bed of the dour in this area (the river has been directed eastwards during redevelopment of this part of the town in the 1960's). (2)
