Full Description
A watching brief was undertaken on trenches for a major new water pipeline for Dover, part of the works included the excavation for a pipe junction between the York Street bypass and Queen Street. Two fragmentary post medieval graves were identified in this area. These graves formed part of a larger cemetery (possibly associated with the Zion Chapel) that had been mostly cleared during the archaeological excavations on the remains of the Roman forts by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit (KARU) in 1970. The skeletons were examined in situ and not removed. (1)
