Monument record TR 34 SW 1769 - Stratified Medieval depositis St James Area, Dover
Summary
The excavation by developers of an attenuation pit which was 26m (NE-SW) by 9m (NW-SE) and between 1.6m and 1.8m deep was observed by Canterbury Archaeological Trust. The pit cut through well stratified Medieval deposits dating to the 13th - 14th centuries and which are a likely continuation of the Medieval occupation revealed during the Townwall Street excavations undertaken in 1996, which were located directly to the south-west (location accurate to the nearest 10m based on available information)
