Full Description

From the report:

"The site of the former brickworks comprising a platform of the former buildings (A) c. 30m x 50m with sloping banks to off sides of c. 0.4m to north, east and west. Adjacent to the platform A, extending up to OA 30, is a slightly sloping rectangular area (B) sloping south-eastwards, and measuring c. 20 x 40m. The 1872 map suggests that some of the brickworks buildings were located in this area. Area C, measuring c. 7 x 15m diminishing northwards may relate to a further platform and / or extension to the brickworks. To the west of C, and north of A are large, irregular roughly circular sunken features (D to the west measuring c. 15m in diameter and E to the north measuring c.30m). Examination of surface finds and the adjacent brickworks suggest that the features are former clay pits that have been backfilled with Victorian and later rubbish. This area has no LiDAR coverage." The buildings are visible on the 1st edition OS map.

60m to the north-west: "Centred area of backfilled clay pits from the adjacent former brickworks, surface finds from rabbit disturbance suggests they have been backfilled with Victorian and later rubbish."

75m further to the north-west: "Centred area of backfilled clay pits from the adjacent former brickworks, surface finds from rabbits disturbance suggests they have been backfilled with Victorian and later rubbish." (1)
