Full Description
An evaluation prior to the redevelopment of the Town Yard site was undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust. The evaluation revealed two areas of rammed chalk with well-defined trodden surfaces; these appeared to represent open yard surfaces rather than internal floors of buildings. These surfaces appear to be associated with, and in one case abut walls which date to the post medieval period. The excavated deposits associated with this walling produced pottery dating to between c. A.D. 1700-1825. (1)
