An evaluation was undertaken prior to redevelopment of the Town Yard site. A seried of earlier post medieval walls and foundations were uncovered and may be dated to between 1700 - 1825. They were located at a depth of between 0.35m and 0.7m below ground level and were cut by numerous later features associated with the railway works.
