456 sherds of Anglo-Saxon pottery were found (2), inluding 314 mid-to-late Saxon coarseware and 9 sherds of Ipswich ware (1).

"A silver penny of King Aethelberht (858-66) from Site 1 represents one of the latest Middle Saxon objects from the site which can be securely dated. Aethelberht became king of Wessex in 860, having been King of Kent from 858. The coin came from the upper fill of a ninth century pit." (2)

A few 'angled back' knives were found: "It is a common Middle Saxon form which continued in use, however, up to the Conquest. It corresponds with Evison’s type 5." (2)

"Iron fitting made of two strips, both broken, and fixed together by rivets. The space between possibly enlosed leather or another organic material. The upper larger piece is decorated with groups of inlaid copper alloy bands". From lower fill of nonth century pit. (3)
