Monument record TR 34 SW 1542 - Saxon structure (N6) uncovered during excavation in Dover Town centre, 1983

Summary

A Saxon structure, consisting of an orange clay floor, perforated by over 100 small stake holes and a further 23 post holes, was located, cut into the upper levels of the partially upstanding Roman ruins, during excavations to the north west of Market Street, Dover. This structure lies approximately 3m to the north and is on the same axis as structure N3, it was later replaced by Another Saxon building (N7). (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information)
