Full Description
(Summarised from publication)
A Saxon structure, was located directly overlying a slightly earlier Saxon structure (N6) and the Roman building, to the north west of Market Street Dover. Only parts of the west and south walls of this structure were uncovered, the north and east lying beyond the limits of excavation, and these consisted of a series of oval post holes in deep and wide wall trenches, which cut through the floor of the earlier structure.
The two walls met at a right angle and it is likely that they formed part of a rectangular building. There is little dating evidence for this structure but the succeeding soil deposits covering it are sealed by another structure (N8) which can be dated to the c. 10-11th centuries. (1)
