Monument record TR 34 SW 1544 - Saxon structure (N8) uncovered during excavation in Dover Town centre, 1983

Summary

A Saxon structure was located directly overlying two earlier Saxon deposits, structures (N6 and N7) and the Roman building, to the north west of Market Street Dover. Little of the structural detail of the building is apparent but it consists of an extensive area of layered burnt soil and clay. A pit containing a large pottery vessel was found in association with the uppermost of these burnt layers. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information)
