Full Description

During the 19th century a watch tower stood at the end of South Quay next to the lighthouse. Although now ruinous, remains of the tower survive.

The tower is clearly shown in a painting by John Wilson from the 1850s ('a wreck off Folkestone'). Today the remains of the tower constitute a low, roughly rectangular masonry structure with bricked up entrances.
