Full Description

An overgrown Second World War pillbox lies c. 200 m south-east of the old sewage works, Thurnham in a hedgerow. It originally formed part of the defences of Detling Airfield. It is visible on 2012 aerial photographs (1)

A 2024 survey described it as "Pill Box Type 22 LAA Variant. Former RAF Detling off, in coppice 300 yards West of Bimbury Lane, past former Blister Hanger building. Concrete construction, six sided, with machine gun embrasures. Good overall condition, brick facing, embrasures open. " (2)
