Summary

A possible Second World War aircraft hangar exists at Detling airfield. If original then the hangar has been moved c. 35 m to the south-west and rotated from its orignal north-east to south-west orentation to a new east-west orentation.

Full Description

A possible Second World War aircraft hangar exists at Detling airfield. If original then the hangar has been moved c. 35 m to the south-west and rotated from its orignal north-east to south-west orentation to a new east-west orentation. The hangar is visible on 1946 aerial photographs and still visible in 2012. (1,2)

The site was visited in 2024 as part of the Maidstone 20th century military and civil defence survey(3). The condition was described as Fair overall and perhaps associated with post war glider school. Currently in use as a farm store.(3)
