Full Description
Roman finds, all in residual contexts, found during excvations prior to the construction of the Canterbury Christ Church University Student Union Building in 1983-4. As with other nearby scatters of Roman material, these indicate occupation or activity nearby, perhaps along the line of the Queningate Roman road. They may relate to 'a known Roman cemetery in the area later covered by the abbey'.
'A small collection of pot-sherds', 'two fragments of glass, a coin of Cunobelin and a regular radiate', and 'a small quantity of fragmented Roman tiles, including tegulae, imbrices and bricks' were found. (1)
