Full Description
(Summarised from publication)
During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit an area of metalling was located, occupying the space between barrack block B26 and the presumed location of B27, in 1971 at the Battle of Britain Homes site. This metalling probably represents a road running between these two buildings though its full width was not observed.
It is likely that the space between the two barrack blocks would have been in the region of 6m but its western limit lay beyond the limits of excavation and the total width cannot therefore, be ascertained. (1)
