Full Description
(Summarised from publication)
During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit a chalk block drain was located in 1971 at the Battle of Britain Homes site. 8m of the drain was traced running north-south between two barrack blocks (B24 and B25).
It survived as an open gutter 18cm wide and 5cm deep cut from a single block of chalk. Its alignment changes slightly towards the northern end and it is likely that it joins with drain B80 giving it a minimum length of 18m. (1)
