Full Description
(Summarised from publication)
During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit an interesting Y shaped drain of chalk block was located in the south east corner of the fort the Battle of Britain Homes Site in 1971. The north arm was traced for 14m while the south was traced for 5m, both joined together and were traced for another 4m before they joined the end of the eastern arm of the sewer. Both drains were open gutters 15cm wide by 13cm deep. It is possible that this drain was inserted at the same time as the latrine and its function may have been associated with it. (1)
