Full Description
52 civilian beds used during WW1. Founded as a dispensary in 1850, the hospital moved to a large house in Bath Street during the 1860's and expanded into a large general hospital. Various additions were carried out, including a Children's Ward in 1884 and an isolation block of circular wards, 1887. A large new wing was added in 1894 and 1895 and was probably the 2 storey block to the right of the main entrance. There were further additions in the inter-war period when 2 wards for women were added as well as an outpatient's department.
