Full Description
The Chatham Land Defence Map (attached) shows a rectangular structure to the rear of the church adjacent to the building which now houses the boiler (2). This is marked to indicate a use by the Royal Engineers; however what this use was is not given. The map shows the structure to be about the same size as the Church boiler house.
The site was a building or compound, for an unknown use by the Royal Engineers, possible a store of office. Although now demolished a couple of courses of brick wall alongside the church boundary wall are visible above the ground, together with a scattering of loose bricks.
