Summary

The First World War strong point consisted of a small double line of fire trenches. The inner section consisted of a short section of fire trench with 4 machine gun emplacements, one of which is on the outer trench and a dugout. There is a barbed wire belt shown in front of the strong point.

Full Description

The Strong Point consists of a small double line of fire trenches, the outer running from the MGE at 587253-164158, recorded in ARA76, to 587366-164090. The inner section, the centre of which is at grid reference 587351-164102 given above, consists of a short section of fire trench with 4 MGEs, one of which is on the outer trench and a dugout. The dugout is shown as having two entrences coming off the inner trench which is curved, see relevent section of The Chatham Land Defence Map attached to ARA75 (2). There is a barbed wire belt shown in front of the strong point. (1)
