Building record TQ 86 SW 173 - Guildsted Brigade Headquarters

Summary

This building was built about 1826 and was used as the garage for Guildsted Court and almost certainly the coach house or stables before that. A Royal Engineers map shows the telphone lines going across or through the building and the area between this building and Yelsted Farm is marked as a Brigade Headquarters. Although it is believed that several building were used, the grid reference is that for Guildsted Lodge. Without the information given by Mr Sumner this building might well have been discounted as part of the HQ.
