Full Description
Foghorn House shown on the OS 1st Edition, by the OS 2nd Edition Foghorn House is shown as being 30 metres south of initial location, easting & northing shown as of OS 1st Edition. It was possibly built in 1860 as it is recorded that in 1860 a fog trumpet was installed next to the 1792 lighthouse, and was operated by a steam engine. The reason why it was built was to warn ships. This foghorn was replaced in the late 1880's by a new Foghorn House. (1)
