Summary

Wesleyan Methodist chapel at Coxheath built in 1825 with weather-boarded sides and flush-jointed boarding to the front. Gabled front of three bays with round-arched windows and circular window above the porch. It had become Congregational by 1908.

Full Description

Grade II listed. Coxheath Congregational Chapel built 1825 on east side of Linton Road, Loose, Maidstone. Timber framed, clad with weatherboarding. Slate roof. Built at right-angles to road. Single-storey height, on rendered plinth. Gable end elevation: plain bargeboards and pendant. Circular bulls-eye window to centre of gable and two tall round-headed windows with Y tracery flanking porch, all with slightly-moulded architraves. Panelled door in central single-storey weatherboarded porch with slate roof and slightly-moulded pedimented gable. Interior not inspected. Marked on O/S 1865-67 map as Wesleyan Methodist Chapel.The building is shown on the 1862-75 (Methodist Chapel), 1897-1900 (Methodist), 1907-23 (Mission), 1929-52 (Congregational) and current O/S maps. It is still in use.
