Three post medieval wells were located during an archaeological evaluation and excavation undertaken off Bridge Street, Dover. Two of the wells are located within 18th century buildings but appear to be mid-19th century additions, the third is c. 25m to the north west of these buildings and is likely to have been associated with a building formerly fronting onto Bridge Street.

In detail, the two internal wells were excavated to a depth 0.9m at which point the water table was reached. Both were constructed of un-mortared and Ashlar chalk blocks capped with mortared red bricks, and measured 0.88m in external diameter. The fill of these two wells consisted of material dating to the mid-19th century and later. The third external well measured 1.35m in diameter and was excavated down to the levels of the river gravels. It was constructed of un-mortared chalk blocks capped with red bricks, the bricks are of a 18th-19th century type. The well had been backfilled with a large quantity of 20th century pottery and CBM.
