Full Description

Evaluation trenching in connection with land development off Honeywood Parkway at Whitfield in 2000 revealed nine minor archaeological features. The features were all gullies, eight aligned North-East by South-West and one aligned North-West by South-East. In general, the awis of these gullies appears to correspond with the orientation of the local field system that predated the land development and appaers to have been of nineteenth century date. They could be connected with draining the heavy clay soil on the site, or equally possibly they may simply be the result of deep ploughing of the fields (1).
