Full Description

As part of the redevelopment of the former Old Park estate, Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out a watching brief in 2000 during the construction of new service roads. A scatter consisting of 52 prehistoric struck flints was found. None of the flints were well-produced tools, although there were 9 which showed evidence of retouching suggestive of rough tools or utilised pieces. The great majority of pieces, however, are just waste flakes. The overall character of the pieces, with a light patina and generally poor standard of working suggests a date range around the Late Neolithic/Bronze Age. (1)F
