Full Description
Situated to the south of a group of six chest tombs (TQ 54 NE 6) and east of a yew tree.
Inscriptoion on top slab. "In memory of William Polhill Dowthwaite Surgeon of this place who departed this life Novr 21 1840 Aged 58 years Also Charlotte Wilhelmina Dowthwaite Wife of the above who departed this life June 20th 1859 Aged 47 (?) years. Also Sarah Daughter of the above who died 7th March 1820 Aged 7 years. Also William Dowthwaite who died 10th May 1841 Aged 15 years.
Description: Brick chest of 2 square and one cant brick orders to base. Supporting brick chest with simple corner pilasters. Bricks to chest red rubbers in fine gauged brickwork. Stone slab top with bull nose edge. Size 1000mm high. Chest under slab 1850 x 890mm
Defects: North east pilaster poor condition. Minor ivy growth and plant growth. Moss on plinth. Weathered brickwork.
Recommendations: Remove plant growth. Rebuild pilaster.(1)
