Monument record TQ 77 SE 1169 - Disused railway, Hoo Island, Hoo St. Werburgh

Summary

Extensive remains of an old railway located on the western side of Hoo Island during a 2004 coastal survey. Ceramic remains amongst the track are thought to have been used to hold the sleepers in place. The tracks were also seen to be reused further along the coast.

Full Description

Extensive remnant of old railway and a row of vertical iron bars. Sections of the track are out of situ, and the presence of ceramic tiles is possibly to hold sleepers in place. The reuse of tracks seen at point TQ 77 SE 1167 further along coast.(1)
